Equipping / Teaching/ and Making Disciples
Enabling and encouraging the youth of Leo and Fort Wayne to a deeper walk with Christ and obedience to the Great Comission
Our mission is simple: train, equip, disciple, and enable our youth to a deeper walk with Christ. It begins with salvation and a new beginning, but after that initial decision is made is where God speaks into our lives and we realize that we were created for more than just school, sports, and a social life. Our lives are intended to be on mission with Christ, living a life guided by the Holy Spirit for His Glory!
We teach the Bible weekly, verse by verse. Harvest Fellowship is a non-denominational church affiliated with Calvary Chapel. Calvary Chapel is known for its emphasis on excellent verse by verse teaching of the Word of God. We incorporate that style into how we teach our Youth.
A friend of mine once asked me how I “create” a program for our youth group. Instead of planning, creating, and making this elaborate program, I follow what was outlined for us in Acts 2:42. It says, “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals, and to prayer.” We incorporate that framework for our Youth Group. Whether it is from our Bible Studies, prayer times, worship nights, or road-trips with each other, our group strives to be like the early church in the simple framework that they followed.
Our heart and desire would be to see our students equipped, involved, and connected to each other and the church. Most of our students help out with ministries around Harvest including babysitting, HeBrews Coffee House, music and worship ministry, general cleanup, etc.
See below for current times and locations of where we meet. Note that we will not have Youth Group on Sunday December 29th, or Wednesday December 25th and January 1st.
Our Youth Group will have our annual Christmas Party and White Elephant Gift Exchange on Sunday December 22nd at 6pm. Bring a side dish (appetizer type snack) or desert to share. Also bring a gift for the exchange, no more than $10. Make it something funny/useful, not junk for the exchange.
On Sunday January 19th we will be starting a new video series covering the life of David. It is a study from David Nassar about King David and his life. For a sneak peak at the video, check out this trailer.
We are going to Sky Zone on Thursday January 2nd. Meet at Harvest at 10am, or at SkyZone at 11:00am. Cost is $15 and includes an hour of jumptime as well as lunch, snacks, and cake. We are renting out the entire dodgeball court for our youth group. BEFORE YOU COME YOU MUST HAVE A SIGNED WAIVER. Have your mom or dad go to the SkyZone website and fill it out. We will also have paper forms at Harvest. The link is: https://fortwaynestore.skyzone.com/waiver/ If you will be attending, please sign up at Youth Group or by emailing me at: firstname.lastname@example.org
